During the fall, there is intensive work on Learn To Walk – CE marking is in progress, a new producer for the hip belt is also underway, recruiting new users, and the development of Web Support are on the to-do list. It’s incredibly exciting to develop this product that not only teaches balance but also provides the opportunity to learn weight-bearing, increased sensation in the feet, movements, strength, and many other components involved in independent walking. With reduced impact from Covid-19, we can finally meet and conduct in-person training. Learn to Move has various assignments this fall, including training for Functional Music Therapy in Eskilstuna, for ST doctors in child psychiatry in Nynäshamn, and courses in both DCD and Motor Development through Närhälsan in Gothenburg. In addition to that, teaching on the course in Movement Analysis at the Karolinska Institutet.
How do we teach the brain to control movements? What are our expectations for learning and development, what is the problem, and what is the solution? These are the questions addressed during the 2 seminars that Ulrika holds for Made for Movement. The first one is for parents, and the second one is for colleagues. What is needed for the future and to raise the level and expectations? Looking forward to discussing this! The school nurses’ magazine “Skolhälsan” has a theme on NPF – Neuropsychiatric Diagnoses in issue 2/2021. Interesting with articles on tics, language disorders, etc., and where Learn to Move contributes with an article on DCD – perhaps the most overlooked issue despite being common? The need for knowledge about DCD, as mentioned earlier, is SIGNIFICANT. It is important to distinguish between DCD and inactivity and to understand how DCD affects the entire life – not least participation and self-esteem. The education company Expo Medica is organizing a full-day training for schools, child psychiatry, and child healthcare on DCD in the fall of 2021, where Learn to Move is involved as a lecturer. The need for knowledge about DCD is significant – it fundamentally impacts motor development but also self-esteem, participation in play and recreational activities, as well as learning. The course takes place in Gothenburg on November 10th and in Stockholm on November 17th.
