This course focuses on treatment. It addresses the necessity of a plan to teach the child the normal movement development that occurs during the first year, transitioning form a flexed to a an upright body, and from a clenched to an open hand. It breaks down functions into basic prerequisites – and we discuss how, with precise tasks that mimic normal development, we help the brain learn to control different parts of the body. We go through training programs for children of different ages, discuss how we can create dynamic orthoses that support development without diminishing weighbearing and mobility but instead strive for normal function. The course covers training at different ages and participation in school sports and leisure activities.
